Rev Canon Captain Richard Mayabi

Director Anglicans Missions Africa

In 2019 Richard stepped down from his role as General Secretary of Church Army Africa after 10 years during which he was involved in setting up and expanding ministries of evangelism and church planting throughout Africa. He is now Africa Director of Anglicans Missions Africa and is based in Nairobi, Kenya.

Anglican Missions Africa was launched by the Archbishop of Kenya in 2019 and currently operates in three African countries; Kenya in Eastern Africa, Mozambique in Southern Africa and Ghana in West Africa. The vision for AMA is to nurture a healthy and sustainable church in Africa and beyond. The Mission is to Equip, Empower and Release every Christian leader as agents of both spiritual and social change in their sphere of influence. To achieve this vision and mission, AMA developed a Healthy Church capacity building program that trains all Church leaders on how to nurture and grow a healthy and sustainable church.

As a result of not being able to offer onsite training due to COVID-19 restrictions, AMA moved the Healthy Church Capacity building programme into an online practical training course that focuses on the equipping of evangelists in Dioceses to champion works of evangelism, discipleship and church planting. The online training course targets 40 Dioceses in Kenya with aim of training Anglicans for practical evangelism that will lead to church planting, formation of discipleship teams across the country and establishment of discipleship clubs in all schools.

AMA is in partnership with Global Missions Partnership network under GAFCON.

Please pray for

  • The establishing and equipping of discipleship teams of evangelists.
  • Planting of new churches.
  • Development of discipleship and mentoring programmes in schools
  • For Richard and his family. His wife Patience is Principal of Carlile College and they have 3 children - Joy (17), Colin (15) and Alysoun (9).
